Fall is coming and with it comes lots of fun festivities for the family.

Here’s a roundup of things to do in and around Forsyth County, GA this weekend!

Uncle Shucks corn maze and Warbington Farms new corn maze opens for the season this weekend!

Friday, September 11

10:00 AM – Hampton Park Library  Busy Builders – Did you know that playing with LEGO and other building blocks can help develop your child’s cognitive learning and social skills? Every Friday morning we will set out a collection of kid-friendly building blocks for an engaging and educational drop-in playtime. You bring your creativity, we’ll provide the rest! All ages are welcome to attend this family program. Registration is not required, drop-in anytime!

11:15 PM – Post Road Library Preschoolers @ Post – STEM 4 Pre-K  – Every child is a budding scientist! Let your child experiment, explore and wonder with hands-on, age appropriate science fun! No registration required.

Saturday, September 12

10:00 am – 12:00 pm – Michaels Kids Club Event: Make a bird feeder! Let the kids craft while you shop, and then they get to take their creativity home with them! Just $2 per 30-minute session – including supplies. Ages 3 & up welcome!

11:00 am – Barnes & Noble – The Collection Forsyth. In celebration of Grandparents Day, we will be reading Llama Llama Gram and Grandpa. Activities to follow!

11:00 am – 2:00 pm – Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office Community Outreach Day and Fundraiser this Saturday from 11AM – 2PM at Tacos & Tequilas on Marketplace Blvd. Bring the kids to check out the SWAT truck, K-9 Units, Motor Unit, Negotiations truck, and more! There will also be balloon animals and face painting! Also, stick around until 2PM, at that time there will be a balloon release! This fundraiser is to raise money for the Teen Interception Program and the Explorer Program. Both programs directly benefit Forsyth County teens.

EVENTS NEAR FORSYTH COUNTY

Atlanta Dragon Boat Festival – Saturday, September 12, 2015 at the Lake Lanier Olympic Venue in Gainesville, GA. Activities commence with races beginning at 7 am and the colorful Opening Ceremonies at noon. The race has grown from a handful of teams and a few spectators to an event which is one of the hallmark diversity events in the metro Atlanta area. The event now boasts a field of more than 50 teams with over 5,000 spectators and a wide variety of Chinese artisans either performing or displaying their wares.

12th Annual Flowery Branch Car Show & Chili Cookoff PLUS 8th Annual Bugs at the Branch – from 10:00 am – 4:00 pm.
Activities will include, music, crafts, vendor area, local merchants, food court, swap meet, parts vendors, chili tasting and cool car viewing. Fun for the whole family! 2nd Annual Chattahoochee Mountain Music Festival – 9/12/15 at 12noon-7pm

Cagle’s Family Farm in Canton, GA opens Labor Day weekend! Fall fun at the farm starts this weekend. Enjoy their annual corn maze and lots of kid friendly activities. There is also a haunted barn opening in October for older folks. Open weekends from September 4 through November 15th. Pumpkin Patch – Corn Maze – Bonfire Hayrides – Friendly Farm Animals – Jumping Pillows Little Clay’s Corral – The Lost Cow Mine – Goat Walk – Pig Races Miz Rosie’s Milking Parlor – Farm Tours – and more!

Burt’s Pumpkin Farm – 5 Burt’s Farm Rd Dawsonville, Georgia 30534. Hours will be from 9:00 a.m. till 6:00 p.m. Admission is free. The hayrides will be weekends only until October then the hayrides will be 7 days a week. Hayride cost: Adults $5.00, Kids 12 & under $4.00, infants 12 months and under free.

Apple Picking Jubilee begins weekends starting September 12! Visit the ice cream parlor for hot treats from the bakery such as their famous apple fritters , apple pies and cider doughnuts. Apple Picking Jubilee is a fun filled on the farm festival featuring U-Pick apples, cow milking, pig races, mule and tractor draw wagon rides, playgrounds with giant slides, pedal cart and trike rides, and a Farmhouse and Moonshine Museum. Visitors love the most unique petting farm in North Ga. where children can hug ad feed lots of baby farm animals including goats, lambs, a calf, kittens and even just hatched baby chicks.
